My high school, Sacramento Waldorf, is excited to announce the 7th annual 24 hour walkathon, a fundraiser through walking to support a unique organization that is different each year! I am incredibly honored to be a part of this amazing fundraiser, with the ability to change lives. If it is possible for you, I would really appreciate your support through a fixed donation or a sponsored lap count. This year the organization we have chosen to support is CAMFED. CAMFED (Campaign for Female Education) is an international nonprofit dedicated to helping girls in rural Africa access education and build independent futures. It operates in countries such as Ghana, Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe, where poverty and gender inequality often prevent girls from staying in school. CAMFED provides direct support by covering school fees, uniforms, books, and essential items like menstrual products, transportation, and safe housing, allowing girls to attend school consistently. Beyond financial aid, the organization offers mentoring through trained Teacher Mentors and Learner Guides, who provide academic guidance, life skills, and emotional support. After graduating, many students join the CAMFED Association, where they receive leadership training, career support, and opportunities to mentor younger girls – creating a lasting cycle of empowerment and change.
